NATA ENDORSES GOV EMMANUEL FOR SECOND TERM

The latest in the series of endorsements of Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term has emerged from the leadership and members of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Akwa Ibom State Council.

This was sequel to a motion raised by the State Chairman of NATA, Comrade Charlie Eka, during an endorsement rally organised by the Association, at the Mechanic Village, Afaha Offot, Uyo.

Comrade Eka stated that the members of NATA in the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, have resolved to adopt Governor Emmanuel as their sole gubernatorial candidate based on their conviction of positive achievements, especially, in the maintenance of peace and security, adding that the Emmanuel-led administration has brought divine blessings to the Associciation.

He remarked that members of the Association are appreciative of the Governor’s ingenuity and commitment to the revamping of the automotive repairs and maintenance sector which was abandoned for many years, pointing out that the NATA members contribute not less than 60% to the growth of the country’s economy.

The NATA Chairman commended the Governor for identifying with the Association and creating an enabling environment for the thriving of the sector, assuring that, come March 2, they will all go out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility and ensure the return of Governor Emmanuel fore a second term.

In his speech, the Chairman of Mechanic Village, Comrade Ime Okon, said that Governor Emmanuel has made history for being the first Governor to visit the Mechanic Village in its 32 years  of existence, noting that the Emmanuel administration has been the only government that has impacted on or registered its presence in the technicians’ domain.

Okon expressed appreciation to the Governor for the construction of rooads within the Mechanic village, adding that the coming on board of Emmanuel as Governor has enabled peaceful coexistence of operators of businesses in the automobile technicians village as well as with members of the surrounding communities.

While assuring of massive support for the Governor’s  re-election, the Mechanic Village boss expressed conviction that the Governor does not fail in his promises,  making a case for the provision of an ultra modern automobile village and requested for a car to aid his movement while discharging official functions.

The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Hon. Imoh Okon,  said that Akwa Ibom was blessed to have Emmanuel as leader of the state, urging the people to sustain the blessings by returning the Governor for a second term.

In a goodwill message, the Village Head of Afaha Offot, Eteidung David Etuk was full of appreciation to Governor Emmanuel for the construction of roads in their community which was in a deplorable condition for about 17 years, stressing that it was a privilege to host the Governor in Afaha Offot community.

Eteidung Etuk maintained that Governor Emmanuel’s administration has positively changed the Afaha Offot community within a short period, emphasizing that it would be justifiable to vote for the continuation of his government and pledged the support of members of his commununity to the Governor’s re-election.

The Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Prince Enobong Uwah, described the Governor as a peace-loving leader and man of integrity, urging the people to support the re-election bid of the Governor for more development and fulfilled promises.

Prince Uwah, who is also the Secretary of the Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation, said that based on his relationship and interactions with members of NATA and  the Offot communities, he was confident that their support for Governor Emmanuel was unshakable, soliciting for votes for all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Also Speaking, the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Sir Charles Udoh, conveyed the people’s message of thanks to the Governor for the floating of interest-free loans to business operators in mechanic village and the appointment of Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael as his Special Assistance on Trade matters, explaining that Raphael has justified his potfolio by overseeing to the welfare of the NATA members.

Sir Udoh assured that the people of Uyo Ward 6 will demonstrate their appreciation and  support for the Governor at the polls where they will massively vote for the umbrella Party come February 16 and March 2, 2019, maintaining that the Governor’s second term aspiration was a done deal.

On his part, the Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert, acknowledged that the Governor’s wide acceptance was an indication of victory in the gubernatorial election,  reteirating that Emmanuel will remain committed to the welfare of members of NATA throughout his eight years tenure.

Obong Albert, who is the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Uyo District, said that Governor Emmanuel’s greatest achievement was his transformation of the spiritual minds of the people of the state by redirecting them to God,  drumming up support for all PDP candidates and the Governor, whom he described as a God-fearing leader.

Responding, Governor Emmanuel  appreciated the leadership of NATA for being excellently organized and their massive show of love, hinting that the state government has already acquired plots of land for  an Ultramodern Automobile Technicians City.

The Governor, who approved a car gift to the Chairman of the mechanic village, stated that his administration is in the process of drawing appropriate electricity supply to the location to ensure adequate voltage irrespective of the type of equipment used, adding that the challenges of roads and water supply would  be addressed within weeks of successful electrification of the site.

He informed them that his government is in partnership arrangement with foreign investors to build a spare parts market beside the proposed Mechanic City, noting that the involvement of the foreign investors would help in checking issues of fake spare parts and reduce the cost and time of doing business.

Emmanuel explained that the arrangement would also assist in identifying the designation of spare parts manufacturers as well as the country of production, stressing that his administration was busy working on getting the share holding structure through a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU.

He said that his administration was interested in holding shares in the arrangement to forstall over-taxation of the NATA members, calling on them to be proactive in exercising their rights during the election and sensitised them on the use of rhe index finger for voting all candidates of the PDP.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of a tools box and workshop apron as well as campaign materials comprising fez caps and tshirts to the Governor, by the Technicians.
