Gov. Udom Emmanuel drives ShopRite to Akwa Ibom State
The Akwa Ibom State Government through the technical committee on Foreign Direct Investments has concluded plans for the establishment of Shoprite holding limited in Akwa Ibom by second quarter of the year.
The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr. Olumide Ogusanya made this known while interacting with newsmen during an inspection tour to the site on Thursday.
Ogusanya said that the project which is ongoing would not take time, assured that everything have been put in place including funds to give the project a first lift.
According to him the firm is private driven and fully funded with about fifteen million Us dollars, with the share of about 75% and the state government 25%.
He said the firm will open up employment opportunities to Akwa Ibom indigenes, improve tax to the State, encourage local famers as well as placing the state at Global map on modern retail centres.
While commending the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for turning the State into an industrial hub said, Akwa Ibom State is now ranking number seven most fastest growing city in the world.
He however, thanked the Governor for providing them with a safe and conducive environment to invest in the State.
