Predominant reports reaching us have shown that the violence and disruption of voting processes in Akwa Ibom State, a state in southern Nigeria is increasing at a very disturbing rate.
The violence and disruption of voting processes are perpetrated in collusion with security agencies and members of the opposition party in that state.
The Centre for Democracy and Good Governance frowns at this attempt to thwart the legitimate processes of selection of leaders by citizens.
We call on Nigeria’s electoral body – The Independent Electoral Commission to take note of this and move in to prevent further subversion of the will of the people.
We will continue to publish critical and credible information our team get from these areas in real time. We also encourage Nigerians to continue to send in Citizens’ report about important happenings in their units, wards, Local Government Areas, and State to our Citizens report Portal via the website: www.cdggafrica.org
