…. AS 2015 CAMPAIGNING DG ABSENT AT CONSTITUENCY BRIEFING

Barely 48 hours after Senator Bassey Albert’s empowerment, a BMW X6 mini SUV given by Obong Bassey Albert (OBA), to his 2019 campaign DG and chairman of Uyo local government area, Elder Imoh Okon, has been involved in a fatal crash.

Senator Albert gave the blue colour 2010 model of German made car to Okon ahead of his constituency briefing held last weekend in Uyo.

An eye witness told The Guide that the accident occurred at about 1:am on Tuesday on IBB way, Uyo.

Elder Imoh Okon who was driving through the dual carriage road on top speed when the car ramped off the road, the eye witness said.

“The car was driven by the chairman (Elder Imoh Okon) when the accident occurred”.

When our reporter checked at day break, he was told that the car has been towed away.

Bassey Albert’s constituency briefing has deepen OBA’s face-off with those who championed his electioneering in 2015, whom he was said to have dumped.

The Guide gathered authoritatively that Senator Bassey Albert’s campaign DG in 2015, Hon. Archibong Inyang was sidelined in the OBA’s empowerment programme. Hon. Inyang did not attend the constituency briefing held in Uyo township stadium.

A member of Archibong Inyang’s family who spoke to The Guide on phone on condition of anonymity said Senator Bassey Albert, did not tell Inyang about the event nor invited him or any member of Archibong Inyang’s family to the event.

Prior to the briefing, burglars broke into the Akwa Ibom State secretariat of the NUJ barely 24 hours after Senator Bassey Albert, visited the centre with his supporters.

The burglars cartaway the union properties including generating set, plasma television, among others.

Though the leadership of the NUJ has not issued an official statement on the burglary, The Guide was informed that the case has been duly reported to the police.

It was the first time the union secretariat was burgled.
