Akwa Ibom: Ituk Mbang Isolation Centre Ready Soon – Inyang-eyen

The ongoing 300 bed capacity Isolation Centre at Methodist General Hospital, Ituk Mbang, Uruan Local Government Area, will soon be completed and put to use.

Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen, has assured.

Conducting newsmen round the facility today, the commissioner said work at the facility is going on at breakneck speed in line with specification and with strict compliance to quality.

Mr Inyang-eyen dispelled fears of low quality job at the facility given the pace of work, noting that all safety measures are being observed in the erection of the structure, maintaining that the facility will stand the test of time.

Comprising state-of-the-art Doctor’s quarters for 20 medical personnel, well equipped laboratory, a spacious canteen, administrative offices and other top of the range accompaniments, the Isolation Centre, the Works boss said, is envisioned to outlive the Covid-19 challenge, saying that the facility, apart from being built as a quarantine centre to tackle coronavirus and other infections, has come to stay and will forever be part and parcel of the hospital.

The commissioner lauded Mr. Udom Emmanuel for providing adequate funds for the project, adding that the governor’s interest in seeing to the completion of the facility bears testament to his commitment in giving the health sector a facelift in the state.

On the issue of security, Mr Inyang-eyen noted that serious attention his been given to the safety of the facility, adding that all is in place to ensure that security at the centre is guaranteed.
