….Applauds his contributions to the development of Engineering
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey has described the late Paramount Ruler of Uruan, His Royal Highness, Nsom Engr. E.B.A. Ekanem, as an Engineering icon whose contributions to the development of infrastructure and engineering deserves commendation. Speaker Bassey made this disclosure when he paid a courtesy visit on the family of the late Monarch at Itu Mbang. He said the late Monarch will be remembered for his good works and contributions to the promotion of peace and development of Uruan and the State in general.
“I am here to condole with the Crown Prince and the family of late Nsom of Uruan, HRH Engr. E.B.A. Ekanem, on the demise of their father and Paramount Ruler of Uruan. The sad event reminds us of the inevitability of death being the final exit channel of all mortals. It is understandable that your family is pained by this loss given the towering influence and fatherly figure the late Monarch had on all of us.
He was a world renowned engineer who contributed immensely to the development of the engineering profession and infrastructure, East of the Niger. He used his position as paramount ruler to bring peace and development to Uruan Nation and Akwa Ibom state.
He was a man of many parts who built bridges across divides. Uruan and Akwa Ibom will surely miss him. He was an accommodating person who considered the plight and welfare of others; always ready to lend a helping hand and go the extra mile to put smiles on the faces of those around him”
Speaker Aniekan Bassey urged the Crown Prince and the family to ensure that they uphold the virtues their late patriarch exhibited and died for and promised to stand by the family.
“I urge you, Crown Prince and indeed the family to make the virtues your late father lived for and cherished, the source of your comfort and strength. You should strive at all times to uphold these virtues as a mark of honour to his living memory. I promise to stand by you through this trying times. We will join hands to bid the late Nsom farewell and give him a befitting burial. While we pray God Almighty in His infinite mercies to grant you and the family the fortitude to bear this monumental loss, may the soul of the departed rest in the bosom of the Lord, amen
Responding, representative of the late Monarch’s family, Chief Kingsley Ekanem, thanked the Speaker for identifying with them at the moment of grief stating that his late father was a good man. He described the Speaker as a true son of Uruan Inyang Atakpo whose election first as Member and later Speaker has brought development to Uruan.
