_Announces Free Concert, Easter Monday_

– _Eulogizes Gov Emmanuel, Victor Antai For Supporting Entertainers_

 Mr David Sergeant has declared that one of his dreams, goals and aspirations as the pioneer aide to the Governor on Entertainment Industry was to see Akwa Ibom artistes display their talents outside the State and Country. 

He however, observed that such dream has become a reality as “Akwa Ibom born artistes from different sub-sectors in the industry are making the State proud day-in-day-out while a good number who never performed before any governor of the state have seen the opportunity courtesy of Governor Udom Emmanuel”. 

Mr Sergeant made the disclosure today Monday at his office in Uyo, the State capital, while playing host to a cross-section of Entertainment writers. 

The Governor’s aide who used the occasion to present his scorecard since assumption of office, hinted that, “the first thing I did few days after receiving my appointment letter was to constitute a-19 man non stipendiary working committee of the Entertainment industry to join me in the onerous task of bringing all entertainers in the State into one umbrella. And, with all amount of sincerity, the people we have as members of the committee have worked conscientiously to the glory of God and benefit of all of us in the industry, taking cognizance of the fact that the industry never existed prior to the Udom Emmanuel administration.

“Over these years feelers that we have received are that, all of us who are stakeholders in the industry, apart from giving life to the once inert industry, have made superlative and quantum exploits so far”, the Governor’s aide stated. 

Listing other feats, Mr Sergeant popularly called Utang Akwa Ibom noted, “Apart from carrying the entire entertainers – toddlers, up and coming and professionals along as well as uniting them, we have reawakened the night life in the once comatose Ibom Plaza in Uyo through live performances like the annual ‘Ibom Unity Concert’, ‘I Rise with Udom Concert’ and ‘Ibom Easter Fiesta’. It might interest you to know that, no fewer than 50 artistes do display their different talents in each of such shows and get paid. 

“In order to strengthen the bond among our members, we came up with the monthly ‘Entertainment Industry Night’ where we partner with owners and management of Lounges in the State to sharpen our skills through live performances”, Utang Akwa Ibom revealed. 

Apart from live concerts, Mr Sergeant hinted that his team has organized novelty football matches with other organized institutions in the State in a bid to strengthen the existing camaraderie among them, like members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, College of Personal Aides of the governor among others.

He eulogized the State Governor; Mr Udom Emmanuel, for extending his love and support to the industry and promised his members unflinching support beyond his mandatory second term in office as the State Chief Executive. 

Sergeant also used the occasion to expressed deep gratitude to the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon Victor Antai, “for reactivating the once moribund Ministry” stressing that the oro born Commissioner deserves special recognition. 

Meanwhile, the third edition of ‘Ibom Easter Fiesta’, a special Easter Celebration Concert for Akwa Ibom people put together by the State government is billed for Easter Monday; 2nd April 2018. 

According to the Governor’s aide, this year’s edition taking place at the usual venue; Ibom Plaza, Uyo, is billed to have “gospel exponents and will give everyone the opportunity to reflect on God’s love for mankind”. 

Mr David Sergeant called on every Akwa Ibomite and visitors to make the State their destination in order to enjoy the show which he said admission was free.
